VIAVI Solutions Inc. has successfully completed its Level 2 Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification assessment across several core defense and aerospace business divisions.
The certification applies to the company’s radio test, avionics, synthetic and modular, and Position, Navigation and Timing product lines. CMMC was established by the U.S. Department of Defense to ensure cybersecurity controls and processes adequately protect Controlled Unclassified Information residing on Defense Industrial Base systems and networks. Compliance with this advanced cybersecurity standard is mandatory for all contractors and entities conducting business with the Department of Defense.
The formal assessment was conducted by A-LIGN, a Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization that provides federal compliance and risk mitigation services.
Doug Russell, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Aerospace and Defense, VIAVI, said, “Achieving CMMC Level 2 certification reflects our dedication to safeguarding the sensitive information that underpins national security and reinforces our role as a trusted partner to the U.S. Defense Industrial Base (DIB). We look forward to extending the certification to the Inertial Labs product lines, which were acquired by VIAVI in 2025.”
The achievement aligns the designated product divisions with federal requirements designed to protect Federal Contract Information and sensitive unclassified national defense data against emerging digital threats.
Petar Besalev, Executive Vice President of Compliance and Cybersecurity Services, A-LIGN, said, “Congratulations to the VIAVI Aerospace and Defense team for achieving CMMC Level 2 certification. This accomplishment demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding valuable information to protect our nation, developing a competitive advantage, and creating a culture of security. We’re proud to support this integral step in VIAVI’s compliance journey with a high-quality assessment process and deep expertise in federal compliance.”
