Micropol Fiberoptic has unveiled OptiScan at DSEI 2025, a rugged and intuitive optical fiber measurement tool built for the most demanding tactical communication environments.
Developed and extensively tested in close collaboration with the Swedish Armed Forces, OptiScan is engineered to deliver fast, reliable verification of tactical fiber networks supporting critical systems such as command-and-control and advanced radar.
At the core of OptiScan’s value is speed. The tool can test up to 12 channels simultaneously in just 30 seconds, offering a dramatic time saving compared to conventional optical power meters. It also supports a wide range of popular optical connectors, including Micropol’s own FALCON™ and PROCON™ expanded beam solutions, as well as HMA, HMC, and others. OptiScan can measure multiple cable reels connected in series, verify links while cables remain on the reel, and operate reliably in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to +55°C.
To adapt to different field requirements, OptiScan provides two distinct measurement modes:
- Loop Mode: Delivers a quick functional check with a straightforward “Approved/Failed” result, requiring no technical interpretation.
- Link Mode: Performs precise attenuation measurement for each fiber, making it ideal for troubleshooting and performance verification.
The tool is designed for single-person operation and comes as a complete field kit, including a charger, loopback plug, cleaning kit, and a rugged IP67-rated case.
Already trusted by the Swedish Armed Forces, one of the most digitalized militaries in the world, OptiScan ensures mission-critical fiber networks remain fully operational before, during, and after deployment.
