Micropol Fiberoptic plays a crucial role in ArmaTech AB’s Wolfpack Drone Detection System, providing the fiber optic backbone that keeps the system stealthy, resilient, and fully operational in tactical environments.
As drones become increasingly used for surveillance, smuggling, and hostile activities, the demand for advanced detection and countermeasure technologies has never been higher.
The Wolfpack system is a compact 360° passive RF sensor capable of identifying drone make and model by monitoring control signals and video feeds. Typically deployed with three sensors triangulating drone positions across distances up to 3,000 meters, the system relies on fiber optic connections for secure, interference-free communication. While wireless links are possible, they risk detection and jamming, challenges Micropol’s fiber optic solutions overcome with ease.
Wolfpack uses Micropol HD fiber optic cable, designed for extreme durability and rugged field conditions, capable of withstanding vehicle loads and harsh terrain. High-speed communication between sensors is enabled by FALCON expanded beam connectors, offering industry-leading insertion loss of just -0.8 dB at 1310 nm and thousands of rapid matings without degradation.
Deployment in the field is simplified with Micropol’s tactical backpack, an ergonomic solution that allows operators to quickly deploy and retrieve fiber optic cables, ensuring the Wolfpack system remains mobile, resilient, and fully functional in the most demanding operational scenarios.
