Teledyne Marine has launched the HydroPACT 440 MK2 as a robust upgrade to its established subsea pipe and cable tracking technology.
The new system represents a comprehensive redesign of a platform that has served as the industry standard since the early 1990s. Used extensively in offshore energy, telecommunications, and defence, the technology provides real-time tracking and measurement data essential for the installation, surveying, and verification of subsea assets. The MK2 has been engineered to ensure long-term continuity of supply and operation while maintaining the familiar user interface that generations of offshore personnel are already trained to use.
Jeremy Harrison, Business Manager at Teledyne Marine, said, “After many months of trials and testing, we’re extremely proud to introduce the HydroPACT 440 MK2. Customers can expect the same credible, proven performance they trust—but in a refreshed design built to operate reliably for decades to come. Continuity and future-proofing were our guiding principles.”
Technical enhancements to the system include a move to a titanium subsea housing, which is lighter and more compact than previous iterations. This housing comes depth-rated to 6,000 meters as standard. For the first time, the system is offered as a 24Vdc single subsea pod, a configuration designed to reduce both cost and complexity, making it particularly suitable for the newer electric ROVs entering the market.
The topside components have also been updated with new SDC11 and RMC11 computers. The DeepView operating system has been upgraded for compatibility with Windows 11 to support modern capabilities while ensuring a familiar workflow for long-standing users.
The system retains its versatility for deployment on a wide range of large ROVs and trenchers, allowing operators to conduct independent surveys and verify work to help manage operational costs. Teledyne Marine has confirmed that the HydroPACT 440 MK2 is being launched at the same price point as the previous model.
For existing users, the company is offering upgrade and replacement options for legacy systems. The HydroPACT 440 MK2 is currently available for purchase and is scheduled for its official public debut at Oceanology International 2026 in London this March.
