Impact Subsea is pushing the boundaries of subsea measurement with its ISP360 Profiling Sonars, recently featured in a deep-dive podcast exploring their capabilities.
These mechanically scanned, high-performance sonars deliver exceptional precision, featuring a 1° acoustic angular resolution, an 80-meter range, and 0.35mm timing accuracy, making them ideal for applications such as pipeline inspection, trench profiling, and asset positioning.
The ISP360 system, particularly when paired with Impact Subsea’s seaView V3 software, simplifies sensor deployment for Autonomous and Remotely Operated Vehicles (AUVs and ROVs). SeaView V3 automatically detects connected sensors, allowing rapid start-up and efficient data acquisition. When operating dual ISP360 units, careful calibration is crucial: the software accounts for both physical offsets and rotational differences between sensors, ensuring overlapping data aligns perfectly for a coherent 3D map of the seafloor.
This coordinated operation demonstrates how sophisticated software unlocks the full potential of high-end hardware, enabling interference-free performance in complex environments. Beyond subsea applications, such sensor integration principles offer insights for other multi-sensor systems, from autonomous vehicles to advanced medical imaging.
