Forcys‘ integration of specialized software into micro remotely operated vehicles is transforming how expeditionary forces and explosive ordnance disposal divers conduct critical underwater inspections and payload deployments.
Diving teams frequently operate in high-risk environments characterized by strong currents, low visibility, and poor positioning references. These factors complicate the deployment and maintenance of complex underwater tools. To address these challenges, Forcys technology partner EIVA developed NaviSuite Mobula, a comprehensive software package designed to automate the planning, execution, and processing of remotely operated vehicle (ROV) inspections.

The software is fully integrated from the factory with VideoRay Defender ROVs, providing operators with a fly-by-wire control system. This interface allows for faster re-acquisition of targets and generates higher-quality data for decision-making. By utilizing a simplified control scheme, operators can command the ROV to reach specific locations by dropping waypoints or selecting a set distance and direction, at which point the vehicle navigates to the destination automatically.
Forcys provides further enhancements to the user experience through the integration of advanced tools from technology partners such as Sonardyne and Voyis. These include wireless acoustic initiation triggers, inertial navigation systems, and high-resolution optical systems. The platform also supports autonomy programs through NaviSuite Deep Learning for automatic target recognition and VSLAM computer vision, which enables the creation of 3D models using a single camera.

Situational awareness is improved through the use of 2D, 3D, and 4D model visualizations. The system is equipped with automatic sonar data cleaning and navigation processing tools that refine the quality of final deliverables. These capabilities allow for the generation of fly-by videos and detailed 3D visualizations to support reporting and operational decision-making. While currently optimized for Defender ROV users, the system is designed to facilitate a focus on actionable information rather than the mechanics of the acquisition process.
