ARK Electronics’ ARK G5 P6 RTK GPS is a compact, USA-built navigation and sensor module designed to provide high-precision positioning and integrated sensing capabilities for defense applications.
NDAA compliant and based around the Septentrio mosaic-G5 P6 GNSS receiver, the module combines RTK GNSS, a magnetometer, barometer, IMU, and buzzer in a compact package with DroneCAN connectivity.
The mosaic-G5 P6 provides multi-constellation, multi-frequency tracking of available GNSS signals, supporting centimeter-level RTK positioning and Galileo High Accuracy Service (HAS) corrections. The receiver can be configured for either single- or dual-antenna operation, with dual-antenna capability providing heading information without relying solely on vehicle motion. The module also incorporates Septentrio’s AIM+ technology for enhanced protection against GNSS jamming and spoofing, alongside low-power operation suited to SWaP-constrained platforms.
Supporting the GNSS receiver are an ST IIS2MDC magnetometer, Bosch BMP390 barometer, and InvenSense ICM-42688-P six-axis IMU, providing additional navigation and environmental sensing data. An STM32F412VGH6 microcontroller manages the module, while integrated LED indicators provide visual status information for GPS fix, RTK status, and overall system operation.
The ARK G5 P6 uses DroneCAN for communication and supports DroneCAN firmware updating, enabling integration with compatible flight-control architectures while simplifying configuration and maintenance. Connectivity is provided through two Pixhawk Standard CAN connectors, a UART 2 connector, USB-C, and a Pixhawk Standard debug connector. An integrated buzzer provides an additional system interface.
Measuring 48.0 x 40.0 x 15.4 mm without an antenna and weighing 13 g, the module is designed for integration into compact unmanned platforms. With a main antenna, the overall weight is 43.5 g, while the dual-antenna configuration weighs 91 g. The system operates from a 4.6–5.4 V supply at approximately 360 mA.
USA-built and NDAA compliant, the ARK G5 P6 provides unmanned systems developers with a compact combination of precision GNSS positioning, heading, inertial, pressure, and magnetic sensing in a DroneCAN-enabled package.
