Compact UAS & Heavy-Lift Rotorcraft for Military ISR & Logistics Operations United States of America
Compact UAS & Heavy-Lift Rotorcraft for Military ISR & Logistics Operations
Robinson Unmanned is a U.S. developer of high-performance Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), spanning sub-250 g nano platforms, tactical small UAS, Group 2 aircraft, and turbine-powered heavy-lift autonomous rotorcraft.
The company designs and manufactures NDAA-compliant VTOL UAS from an aviation-grade facility in Torrance, California. Built on the foundation of Robinson Helicopter Company’s 50 years of FAA-certified aircraft manufacturing, Robinson Unmanned applies aviation-grade engineering, production discipline, and quality standards to its unmanned aircraft.
Robinson Unmanned platforms support remotely piloted, optionally piloted, and fully autonomous operations across mission-critical defense, security, logistics, and surveillance applications.
SPIRIT UAS
Rugged coaxial UAS with modular payload configurations
The SPIRIT UAS is a compact coaxial unmanned aircraft designed for demanding multi-mission operations. Its cylindrical form factor and low-profile architecture support rapid deployment, efficient transport, and reliable use across ISR, mapping, reconnaissance, inspection, and tactical sensing roles.
The NDAA-compliant platform has joined the AUVSI Green UAS Cleared List and is recognized as both a Blue UAS Cleared system and a cleared component on the Blue UAS Framework, supporting government and military acquisition requirements.
Officially listed on the U.S. Army’s UAS Marketplace, SPIRIT combines a rugged all-weather airframe with a modular open-system approach. With a payload capacity of up to 6.5 lb and a 13.5 lb maximum take-off weight, the aircraft supports fast payload changes through a universal click-ring interface, including integration of custom payloads.
SPARTAN UAS
Ruggedized Group 2 UAS purpose-built to extend mission reach
The SPARTAN UAS is a coaxial unmanned aircraft engineered to extend mission reach in demanding environments. Its rugged cylindrical airframe and refined aerodynamic design support high speed, extended flight time, wide-area coverage, and strong payload capability within a compact, portable platform.
With capacity for payloads up to 15.3 lb and flight endurance of more than 70 minutes, SPARTAN supports modular payload integration for fast mission reconfiguration.
SPARTAN is built for ISR, medium-lift transport, public safety, and defense missions requiring more endurance, range, and payload capacity than compact small UAS can provide. The aircraft enables deployed teams to extend operational reach while maintaining a portable and adaptable unmanned capability.
R66 TURBINETRUCK
Turbine-powered unmanned cargo helicopter for military logistics & resupply operations
The R66 TURBINETRUCK is a turbine-powered VTOL unmanned logistics platform designed to deliver reliable cargo transport in high-risk, austere, and contested environments. Derived from the proven Robinson R66 architecture, the aircraft is optimized for defense resupply missions where crewed operations may introduce unacceptable risk.
The platform provides internal payload capacity of up to 1,300 lb and supports external loads via cargo hook. Its purpose-built cargo architecture includes front clamshell access and additional side loading, enabling efficient payload handling for distributed logistics, forward resupply, and mission-critical transport.
The R66 TURBINETRUCK features an autonomy-agnostic design that supports integration of AI-driven, autonomous, or remotely piloted control systems. This flexibility allows operators to align the aircraft with evolving command-and-control architectures, mission planning tools, and future autonomy requirements.

All-weather, ultra-lightweight unmanned aircraft for tactical aerial ISR
The HELIUS UAS is an ultra-lightweight nano platform designed for rapid deployment and close-range aerial intelligence. Weighing just 249 g, the system is built to meet NDAA compliance requirements, supporting time-critical tactical operations where portability, speed, and ease of use are essential
Built for single-operator use with hand-launch capability, HELIUS is suited to field teams requiring immediate visual intelligence from confined, complex, or rapidly changing environments. The platform supports tactical decision-making without adding significant equipment burden.
HELIUS features a compact form factor, stable flight performance, and integrated imaging to support reconnaissance, overwatch, and real-time situational awareness. Its small size allows operators to deploy aerial capability in locations where larger unmanned aircraft may be impractical or restricted.
Custom UAS Configurations
Robinson Unmanned supports custom payload configurations for the SPIRIT and SPARTAN small UAS platforms, allowing operators to tailor aircraft for mission-specific sensing, communications, ISR, mapping, and tactical support roles.
The company’s modular approach enables integration of multiple radio, sensor, and Ground Control Station (GCS) options. This allows defense and security users to configure platforms around operational requirements, payload needs, and command-and-control environments.
Key capabilities include:
Designed and built in the USA
NDAA-compliant
EO 13981-compliant
Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) for hardware and software
Multiple radio, sensor, and GCS options
Customizable for specialty payloads
Support for secure, mission-ready UAS configurations
Visit the Robinson Unmanned UAS Configurator for more information on custom payload options.
Robinson Unmanned UAS support tactical ISR, force protection, distributed operations, and deployed mission support across contested and degraded environments. Compact systems such as HELIUS, SPIRIT, and SPARTAN provide rapid-launch aerial awareness from ground vehicles, maritime assets, and forward operating positions, while the R66 TURBINETRUCK extends unmanned capability into heavy-lift requirements.
Logistics and Resupply
Robinson Unmanned platforms enable cargo movement, last-mile delivery, and distributed resupply while reducing exposure for pilots and ground personnel. From compact VTOL aircraft carrying critical supplies to turbine-powered unmanned rotorcraft supporting larger payloads, the company’s systems are designed to sustain operations in remote, austere, and high-risk environments.
Search and Border Surveillance
Robinson Unmanned UAS provide rapid aerial visibility for border security, maritime patrol, public safety, disaster response, and defense overwatch. Stable hover performance, compact deployment profiles, modular sensing options, and secure command-and-control integration allow operators to extend surveillance coverage while reducing risk to personnel.
The United States Marine Corps has awarded a 15.5 million dollar contract for the MARV-EL program, utilizing Sikorsky and Robinson Unmanned's R66 TURBINETRUCK to provide autonomous aerial resupply in high-risk and contested environments
The newly established Robinson Unmanned business unit integrates proven rotorcraft airframes with advanced autonomy to address civil, commercial, and defense mission requirements
