MKS-Ophir will host a 60-minute technical webinar examining recent developments in infrared (IR) zoom lens design tailored to meet the demands of modern aerial systems.
With the continued evolution of tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other airborne platforms, optical components are required to deliver high imaging performance while conforming to strict size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements.
This session will address the engineering approaches used to develop compact IR zoom lenses capable of maintaining high image quality, zoom range, and line-of-sight stability in challenging operational environments.
Topics covered include the use of folded-optic configurations to reduce lens footprint, and the incorporation of advanced optical components—such as aspheric and diffractive elements—to limit the number of individual parts while preserving performance.
The session will also examine mechanical strategies that help maintain image focus and stability throughout the entire zoom range. These technical insights will be supported by field examples that illustrate successful lens integration and performance in active aerial systems.
