The LightIR 15-75 mm f/1.2 is a LWIR Germanium-Less Continuous Zoom Imaging Lens designed for VGA 10-12 µm uncooled LWIR detectors. Re-engineered to reduce dependency on germanium-based optical materials while maintaining high optical performance, it provides a motorized continuous zoom range from 15 mm to 75 mm with an f/1.2 aperture and operation across the 8-12 µm spectral range. The lens weighs 349 g and is described as being ideal for low-SWaP applications. The lens delivers high-performance thermal imaging for aerial and handheld thermal imaging systems and maintains sharp focus over the entire motorized 15-75 mm zoom range.
The lens features high-durability and hard-carbon AR coatings for 8-12 µm as well as a passive athermalized lens assembly designed to maintain imaging performance across the operating temperature range. Average transmission is specified as 91% (HD) or 86% (HC), and the lens includes motorized focus and motorized zoom mechanisms with RS485, RS422 and RS232 communication interfaces. Vehicle detection range is specified as exceeding 7 km, while operation across temperatures from -32°C to +70°C supports deployment in a wide range of environmental conditions.
