Honeywell Aerospace has launched the International Tactical Advanced Land Inertial Navigator (iTALIN) 550 surface navigation system, designed to deliver high-precision positioning, navigation, timing, and stabilization for military and commercial ground vehicles operating in environments where satellite signals may be degraded or unavailable.
Jointly developed by Honeywell Aerospace in the Czech Republic and its subsidiary Civitanavi Systems in Italy, the iTALIN 550 serves as a direct drop-in replacement for Honeywell’s existing TALIN 500 navigation system. The modernized solution delivers improved navigation performance and enhanced alignment capabilities, including reduced alignment times in a smaller overall package.
Because it is developed and manufactured entirely within Europe, the platform is free from U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) restrictions and all other U.S. export controls. This European supply chain enables streamlined export and integration for international defense programs and commercial customers.
The system is the first entry in a planned family of European-developed tactical navigation solutions built on Honeywell Aerospace’s fiber optic gyro (FOG) technology. The FOG-based architecture enables performance to be scaled upward within the same physical envelope and using identical interfaces, allowing operators to adopt higher-capability variants as mission requirements evolve without altering vehicle integration or existing system configurations.

Following initial limited availability in the fourth quarter of 2026, full-scale production of the iTALIN 550 will begin in the first quarter of 2027, providing operators time to evaluate the system and prepare for vehicle integration ahead of live deployment.
