Honeywell Aerospace is expanding its manufacturing operations with a planned $500 million facility in Tempe, Arizona, to support growing demand across commercial aviation and defense programs.
Expected to open in late 2028, the 300,000-square-foot site will be located near the company’s global headquarters. It will incorporate an integrated digital production system, modular robotics, automated inspection, digital twins, and an end-to-end digital thread.
The expansion is intended to strengthen supply chain resilience by bringing additional complex machining capabilities in-house, addressing an area of the aerospace supply base currently facing constraints. It will also support a more vertically integrated production system for next-generation products, including Assure advanced actuation systems and Attune vapor cycle cooling subsystems.
Jim Currier, president and chief executive officer of Honeywell Aerospace, commented, “Demand for technology from Honeywell Aerospace continues to accelerate across both commercial and defense markets, and this major investment ensures we can continue delivering for our customers while unlocking long-term growth for our shareholders. This is an example of how our recent spin into an independent, publicly-traded Honeywell Aerospace allows us to make decisions and investments that support our growth and the future of aviation and defense.”
In addition to supporting growth on existing aerospace programs, the new facility will provide manufacturing capacity for $15 billion in Control Systems new program wins. The expansion will also provide additional capacity to support priority production of critical defense technologies included in a supplier framework agreement signed with the Department of War in March 2026.
The project is expected to create approximately 600 jobs over time, increasing Honeywell Aerospace’s engineering depth and skilled workforce. Construction of the facility is also expected to support more than 1,000 local jobs.
Currier added, “Arizona has been at the heart of our innovation and manufacturing operations for decades. Expanding on our existing Tempe campus with this state-of-the-art new facility reinforces our commitment to this great state, our employees and the Arizona workforce, as well as the customers around the world who depend on our technology every day.”
