Volatus Aerospace Inc. has been selected as a pre-qualified supplier under the Government of Canada’s Defence Drone Initiative Marketplace following a competitive federal review process.
The qualification positions the Canadian-headquartered aerospace and defense company to compete for future procurement opportunities involving uncrewed and autonomous systems in support of both the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Coast Guard.
Launched by the federal government in July 2026, the Defence Drone Initiative was designed to accelerate the development, testing, adaptation, and production of uncrewed systems while expanding domestic defense industrial capacity. Selection to the marketplace supplier pool does not constitute a formal contract award or guarantee revenue, but rather establishes an approved pathway through which future requirements will be tendered.
To support these potential defense programs, Volatus relies on operational infrastructure including its Innovation and Manufacturing Hub in Mirabel, Quebec, and an Operations Control Centre in Vaughan, Ontario. These facilities form part of the company’s broader strategy to deliver an end-to-end Canadian capability covering the development, manufacture, integration, and operation of advanced autonomous technologies.
