Smith Myers Communications Ltd. has introduced ARTEMIS AI, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) capability designed to deliver embedded intelligence at the operational edge for its ARTEMIS product line.
Designed specifically for mission-critical environments, the system aims to help operators make faster, smarter decisions while reducing workload and complexity.
Unlike conventional AI solutions that rely on cloud connectivity, ARTEMIS AI operates entirely within a fully closed system. Using an onboard Large Language Model (LLM) that requires no internet, cloud, or third-party connections, the architecture ensures complete data sovereignty, operational security, and reliability in disconnected or contested environments.
Andrew Munro, Managing Director of Smith Myers, said, “ARTEMIS AI represents the next evolution of operational capability. By embedding intelligent decision support directly into the ARTEMIS platform, we are enabling operators to achieve more with less effort, while maintaining complete control of the system at all times.”
The platform acts as an intelligent operational assistant, providing natural language interaction, automated system optimization, real-time mission support, health monitoring, mission planning assistance, and post-mission analysis. Operators can configure complex missions using simple conversational commands, allowing the system to automatically optimize parameters based on mission requirements, historical performance, and environmental conditions.
During operations, the software continuously supports operators by identifying anomalies, highlighting potential threats or opportunities, recommending actions, and providing safeguards against ineffective decisions. Additionally, the system monitors hardware and software performance, automatically addresses certain faults, and offers clear troubleshooting guidance when intervention is required.
After mission completion, the platform automatically generates reports, charts, briefings, and after-action reviews to enable organizations to extract operational insights and drive continuous improvement.
Munro added, “ARTEMIS AI has been developed with a clear philosophy: artificial intelligence should enhance human performance, not replace it. The system is designed to work alongside operators, providing actionable insights and intelligent assistance while ensuring human decision-makers remain firmly in control.”
Smith Myers is presenting the new capability at Farnborough International Airshow at Booth 1018.
