Revector has released its 4-channel Portable Covert Unit 2.0, a new IMSI locator building upon the success of the previous two-channel backpack model, which has been widely adopted across a range of operational sectors, including security, defense, and search and rescue.
Specifically engineered with direct input from end-users, the 2.0 design prioritizes low size, weight, and power (low-SWaP), flexibility, and high performance. Revector offers two configurations of this next-gen unit: a 2-channel and a 4-channel IMSI cell phone locator, providing flexibility for varying mission requirements.
This newly enhanced design has undergone months of rigorous development, collaborating with top-tier UK technology providers and manufacturers. The result is a best-in-class covert solution built with Five Eyes (FVEY) compliance in mind. It features British components, Canadian SDR technology, and has been entirely designed, developed, tested, and will be manufactured exclusively in the UK.
The entire legacy unit has been redesigned from the ground up, with every component carefully reviewed, analyzed, and improved. This comprehensive reengineering ensures that the new 4-channel unit IMSI locator is future-proof, able to meet the rigorous demands of its users in a variety of operational environments.
The IMSI locator is milled from two solid pieces of high grade aluminium (7075) to meet Revector’s unique clamshell design to house the newly developed components in unique internal Faraframes to reduce excessive interference and unnecessary noise and align to IP67 equivalent rating for dust and water ingress. The housing is iridised with MIL-DTL-5541 protective coating to ensure optimum robustness. The casing has heat sinks as well as air cooled with fans for optimum temperature management and to ensure maximum operational performance when in different climatic regions, confined spaces and being carried in holdalls and backpacks. The unit can operate adequately between -10°C to 55°C. Revector have used three silent fans to meet the needs for covert operations with the unit running at 37db at 50% power and contained at 40db at 100%, with threshold temperature protecionn system when the unit reaches a critical temperature.
The new unit can output up to 5w per channel allowing detection and collection of devices at considerable distance, utilising internally designed and built filters to reduce noise from the SDR and produce a refined and powerful output for device collection.
The solution incorporates innovative filters covering worldwide frequencies as standard, as well as amplification providing increased and refined power output for improved detection performance.
Designed for optimum weight and size, the 4-channel Portable Covert Unit 2.0 can be easily carried in a backpack or holdall for ease of use by personnel on ground operations. Measuring 370mm x 235mm x 125mm and the 4 channel with 3 hot swap batteries weighing only 10.6kg. The size and weight of the unit allows it to be used in various covert operations and in challenging terrains and environments such as search and rescue and defence. The unit can be retrofitted into various operational mediums, including motorbike helmet boxes, vehicles, ultralight (ULM), helicopters, aircraft, etc.
The unit can be powered by 3 Hot-swap Dual 28.8v Smart Li-on Battery providing 80W power per battery for continuous long duration operational use, with three batteries lasting 2.5 hours in operation at 50% power output, but considerably longer when alternating charged batteries, the unit can also be installed into vehicle setups.
The 4-channel unit can use omni directional or directional antenna depending on the specific operational need proving increased flexibility in critical operations. As with the legacy covert unit, version 2.0 comes with operating and mapping software and can be controlled on the ground by the carrier or centrally controlled remotely.
