ASELSAN has demonstrated the autonomous interception and destruction capabilities of its GÖKALP UAV Interception System at the company’s Oğulbey Technology Base in Ankara.
Designed to counter Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) threats, the vehicle-integrated GÖKALP system detects targets using radar and electro-optical systems before autonomously neutralizing hostile drones. The demonstration showcased the coordinated operation of the system’s core components and its interception capabilities under realistic conditions.
During the demonstration, the AURA radar detected the target drone and transmitted real-time data to the GÖKALP E1 interceptor drone through DRONEDEF’s command-and-control software. The GÖKALP E1 then intercepted and destroyed the target using a direct-impact (hit-to-kill) method.
DRONEDEF is ASELSAN’s counter-drone layer within STEELDOME, Türkiye’s integrated, layered air defense architecture. It brings together detection, command-and-control, and countermeasure capabilities to enable a coordinated response to UAV threats.
GÖKALP’s vehicle-integrated design provides a mobile, cost-effective solution for countering UAV threats.
