STELION Geolocation (STELION-SGS) gives defense platforms a nighttime positioning and orientation reference that operates independently of GNSS, using celestial references to provide an alternative to satellite signals vulnerable to jamming and spoofing.
The optical sensor uses multispectral imaging and onboard navigation processing to derive attitude and geographical position from stellar observations, together with known time and date. STELION-SGS provides geolocation accuracy of less than 500 m, depending on the INS, and also features degraded GPS detection.
The self-contained sensor requires no external electronics and uses a plug-and-play architecture for straightforward platform integration. A mass below 360 g and power consumption below 3 W make it ideal for defense designs with restricted weight and power budgets. Quaternion outputs are provided by prototype units, with NMEA over RS-422 specified for production units.
