Sundance Multiprocessor Technology and Etion Create have announced the release of the Cheetah Tactical Router, a new military-grade tactical router with integrated interconnects. The router is a fully managed military-grade Level 2/3 switch/router for military vehicles and other demanding edge applications.

The Cheetah Tactical Router supports VNX+ (VITA 90), an emerging hardware standard intended to speed the design of Size, Weight, and Power-Cost (SWAP-C) constrained defense and aerospace systems. Its design allows for expansion to include cryptographic security, video camera processing, and additional Ethernet capabilities.

Tobie van Loggerenberg, business development executive at Etion Create, stated, “The Cheetah Router meets the complex requirements of military vehicles operating in the most demanding environmental conditions. As the market’s first VNX+ tactical router featuring integrated interconnects, the Cheetah Router’s flexible, modular design empowers military customers to add the functionality they need most. That includes cryptographic security and low-latency video processing.” Van Loggerenberg added that the router is the first product in Etion Create’s VNX+ portfolio.

Key connectivity interfaces on the Cheetah router include intra-vehicle and inter-vehicle data links, tactical data links (TDL), radio and intercom interfaces, and Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS). It also supports multiple-camera sensor fusion and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).

Samtec, a company specializing in advanced connectivity solutions and a supporter of the VNX+ standard, provides SEARAY connectors for the Cheetah Router. These connectors are designed to deliver 56 Gbps PAM4 data transmission speeds and signal integrity. David Givens, vice president of industry standards at Samtec, said, “Designers who select the new Cheetah Router for their ruggedized systems can already take full advantage of the performance and density of Samtec’s family of VNX+-compatible SEARAY connectors.”

The Cheetah Tactical Router is available now. Sundance, an ecosystem partner of Etion Create, offers platform customization services for the router.
