Spectra Group (UK) Ltd has been awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise 2026 in the International Trade category, marking the second time the company has received the UK’s highest business honour.
The specialist provider of mission-critical communications systems previously received the Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2019. This latest recognition follows a three-year assessment period of substantial growth, during which the company’s systems were adopted by military customers across Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. New deployments were established in active operational zones including the Netherlands, Belgium, Indonesia, and Australia.
This international reach resulted in a 173% increase in overseas revenues over the assessment period. By the 2024 financial year, export activities accounted for more than half of the company’s total turnover.
Founded by veteran Simon Davies, the organisation maintains a deep connection to the defence sector, with 40% of its employees being veterans themselves and 60% of staff serving for over a decade. This internal expertise informs the development of equipment designed for active military users who require high-reliability communications in challenging environments. The company, which operates under the motto “Trusted by the Best,” recently expanded its portfolio with the launch of its latest system, GENSS.
Simon Davies, CEO at Spectra Group, commented, “Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise is an honour of the highest order, and to receive it for International Trade, following our Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2019, reflects what this team has built over 24 years. Our customers are active military, operating in environments where communications failure is not an option.
“Their trust in Spectra Group is the standard we hold ourselves to every day, and this award is the clearest possible confirmation that we are meeting it. I am also acutely aware that this recognition belongs to every member of the Spectra Group team. With the recent launch of GENSS, our latest communications system, we have every reason to believe the best is still ahead of us…”
