Hexagon | NovAtel has introduced the GAJT-AE3, a compact anti-jam antenna system designed to protect GNSS signals in airborne applications.
The launch of this latest addition to the GNSS Anti-jam Antenna Technology (GAJT) lineup comes as a direct response to the increasing power and sophistication of jamming techniques currently disrupting satellite-based navigation systems globally.
As low-cost jammers become more capable of targeting a broader range of GNSS frequencies, the GAJT-AE3 addresses the critical need for reliable Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) in demanding environments.
This system is said to be the first anti-jam product to protect all major GNSS constellations with full Multi-Constellation, Multi-Frequency (MCMF) coverage. By integrating this level of protection into a compact format, the technology ensures that even space-constrained platforms can maintain mission resilience.
Stig Pedersen, President, Aerospace & Defence Division, Hexagon, commented, “This is a revolutionary expansion in our battle-proven anti-jam solutions designed specifically for space-constrained platforms. The GAJT-AE3 offers unparalleled signal coverage and multi-jammer direction finding for superior protection and heightened situational awareness.”
The antenna electronics function by mitigating interference through the creation of up to seven nulls per band in the direction of jammers. This allows for significant protection even in dynamic scenarios involving multiple interference sources. The resulting output is a protected radio frequency signal, free from jamming interference, which is compatible with both modern and legacy GNSS receivers.
The GAJT-AE3 supports all GNSS frequencies, including Iridium PNT and L-Band corrections. Because of its ease of integration and small footprint, the unit is suitable for a wide range of hardware, spanning from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to complex weapons systems. The technology can be paired with various antennas from the Hexagon | Antcom portfolio, including specialized custom options.
