A long-standing deployment with a European military unit exemplifies the resilience of MilDef’s systems. Since 2015, the unit has relied on MilDef laptops and tablets in continuous operation, running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These devices have been exposed to an exceptionally harsh environment characterized by extreme heat, dust and electrically conductive dirt. Despite these conditions, the systems have remained in service without failure for five years.
To extend the service life of this equipment, MilDef is now conducting a comprehensive refurbishment program. The initiative includes cleaning, repairs, replacement of batteries and hard drives, and reconditioning of bags and accessories. Once fully tested, the refreshed equipment is returned to the user for continued operational use, underscoring MilDef’s commitment to long-term performance and support.
