The Micro-D portfolio includes MIL-DTL-83513-qualified connectors, backshells and dustcaps, alongside standard and COTS models. Standard Micro-D connectors are available in 9 to 51 positions and in solder cup, wired and board-mount configurations.
Additional versions are available for high-temperature and deep-space applications, including options designed for NASA-qualified low outgassing, as well as mixed-signal designs developed to suit specific application requirements.
High-Reliability Contact Design
Omnetics Micro-D connectors are designed and manufactured to meet and exceed MIL-DTL-83513 requirements and are intended for use in applications involving high levels of shock, vibration and extreme environmental conditions.
The connectors use a beryllium copper spring pin-to-socket contact system with nickel and gold plating. Contacts are arranged on 0.050-inch center-to-center spacing, with the design intended to support reliable mating and de-mating and low contact resistance.
Compact and Latching Options
Latching Micro-D connectors provide the same rugged performance as standard Micro-D connectors while using a quick-latching system that removes the need for threaded jackscrews and tools.
Single Row Micro-D connectors are designed for high-reliability miniaturized electronic modules and occupy less space than comparable two-row Micro-D connectors.
Low Profile Micro-D connectors provide reduced flange height and weight compared with standard Micro-D designs while retaining military-specification performance and reliability. Applications identified by Omnetics include military, aerospace, petroleum and medical systems.
Backshell and Protection Options
Omnetics also offers Micro-D backshells that provide EMI protection, strain relief and mechanical protection. These backshells are compatible with industry-standard metal MIL-DTL-83513-type connectors.
Military and Defense Applications
Omnetics has supported military and defense applications for more than 35 years, with its wider military interconnect portfolio including MIL-DTL-83513 Micro-D and MIL-DTL-32139 Nano-D solutions.
Applications identified by the company include heads-up displays, portable night-vision binoculars, soldier radios, power distribution hubs, handheld weapons, missiles, extended-range munitions and optical missile seeker heads.
