SWaP-Optimized Design
With modules as short as 30 mm, Mini SFF transceivers are nearly 50% shorter than standard SFP transceivers, which are approximately 56.5 mm long.
Horizontal and vertical configurations provide flexibility for constrained Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts, while direct PCB mounting removes the need for a conventional SFP cage, helping reduce system footprint, component count and weight.
The transceivers are also designed for efficient operation, helping reduce power consumption and heat generation in compact systems.
Rugged Reliability
Selected Mini SFF modules support case temperatures of up to +95°C, while optional conformal coating can provide additional protection against humidity and moisture.
Direct PCB mounting also creates a more secure mechanical connection than a removable SFP transceiver, helping reduce movement, loosening and accidental disconnection caused by vibration or shock.
This makes the Mini SFF suited to mobile and high-vibration applications including UAVs, defense vehicles, railway systems and rugged computers.
Fiber Connectivity and System Security
Integrated directly onto the PCB, the Mini SFF is not designed for easy removal or replacement, helping reduce the risk of accidental removal, tampering and unauthorized module replacement.
Fiber-optic transmission is naturally resistant to electromagnetic interference, supporting stable signal performance around motors, power equipment, radio systems and other sources of electrical noise.
Fiber connectivity also supports longer-distance communication than conventional copper connections, making the Mini SFF suitable for distributed systems and remote equipment installations.
