Design Process
Traditional 19” ½ and full 19” boxes were set aside due to their higher power demands. MilDef embarked on a six-month prototyping phase, characterized by iterative design improvements and high-focus. The end result was a compact case, resembling a fisherman’s tackle box, and weighing only 13kg.

The system is powered via a vehicle’s standard outlet, removing the need for vehicle modifications. This feature was critical—soldiers should not have to contend with complex wiring in high-pressure situations.
A standout aspect of the design is the removable internal chassis, which can be extracted in under a minute using just six screws. This simplifies maintenance and enhances safety by eliminating the need for complicated modifications or hazardous manual wiring. Collaborative Approach
MilDef’s close partnership with the client was vital to the project’s success. Testing, component adjustments, and solution refinements were carried out in collaboration with end-users. The final product not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations.
Led by Victor Ekström, the project team comprised young professionals, all under the age of 27. Their enthusiasm was matched by their technical skills. With guidance from experienced colleagues, the team navigated challenges with determination and creativity.
