The Z3Cam-DX combines a Sony FCB-ER8530 visible-light module with a DRS Tamarisk thermal core, providing concurrent electro-optical and infrared video for military surveillance, industrial monitoring, and other specialized applications. Its visible channel captures imagery at up to 2160p30, with 30x Super Resolution Zoom at 4K and 40x zoom at 1080p30. Wide dynamic range, automatic ICR, defog processing, visibility enhancement, and detail-focused noise reduction support changing environmental conditions. The 320 × 240 thermal channel adds high-contrast heat detection, shutter-based calibration, white-hot and black-hot viewing, image inversion, and contrast enhancement.
Both sensors can be operated independently through the network while their video is streamed, monitored, or recorded simultaneously. Operators can display the feeds separately or combine them in a visible-plus-thermal picture-in-picture view. The integrated encoder supports H.265, H.264, and MJPEG, along with RTP, RTSP, MPEG-2 TS, and RTMP delivery. Control options include Sony VISCA commands for the visible camera, Tamarisk commands through the web interface or SSH, ONVIF Profile S, Pelco-D PTZ, and serial connectivity. Unicast, multicast, compressed USB recording, PoE, and ZEUS® hardware decoding support integration into remote defense and surveillance networks.
