FQ-42A CCA is an uncrewed fighter jet developed for semi-autonomous air-to-air operation. It’s designed to fly alongside fifth and sixth-generation aircraft and integrate with crewed fighters to extend reach, awareness and survivability in contested environments. The U.S. Air Force has awarded GA-ASI production contracts for FQ42A for CCA Increment 1, dropping the “Y” prototype designation for forthcoming aircraft.

GA-ASI was selected in 2024 to build production-representative YFQ-42A aircraft under the USAF CCA program. The CCA flew for the first time in August 2025, going from concept to flight in just 15 months.
