Sila has secured $300 million in private equity funding to accelerate U.S. production of its Silicon-Carbon (Si/C) anode technology, Titan Silicon®, and support a planned Phase 2 expansion at its manufacturing plant in Moses Lake, Washington.
The investment round was led by Atreides Management and Sutter Hill Ventures, with participation from 8VC, Bessemer Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., and other new and existing investors.
Sila’s Si/C anode technology, which the company says delivers 20% to 40% higher energy density than traditional graphite, is designed to enable batteries that are smaller, lighter, and capable of ultra-fast charging across critical sectors including space, defense, Artificial Intelligence (AI), electronics, and Electric Vehicles (EVs).
Sila is positioning the expansion of domestic anode production as a way to address vulnerabilities in U.S. battery supply chains. According to the company, China currently controls more than 90% of battery anode material processing and over 80% of global battery cell production, leaving American manufacturers of technologies including drones, sensors, and electric vehicles exposed to single points of failure. Sila noted that trade disputes, export restrictions, or other supply disruptions could stall production across multiple critical technology sectors simultaneously.

Sila completed construction and began operations at its 160-acre Moses Lake site in fall 2025. The facility is designed to expand from an initial Phase 1 capacity of 2 GWh to as much as 250 GWh over the next five years, which Sila says would make it the largest anode production facility in the world. As manufacturing scales, the company expects the facility to create hundreds of good-paying jobs, supporting workers, families, and the local economy in Washington State.
