Military Grade Laptops
Discover cutting-edge solutions from leading global suppliers
Panasonic has introduced the TOUGHBOOK 40mk3, a highly modular and ruggedized laptop designed to meet the demands of military and utility professionals. The latest iteration of the TOUGHBOOK series focuses on integrating artificial intelligence capabilities and enhanced graphics performance to handle complex data processing in the field.
The device is powered by the Intel Core Ultra 5 processor 235H with Intel vPro technology, which includes a dedicated AI Boost neural processing unit (NPU). This hardware is specifically designed to manage AI-driven workflows on Windows 11 Pro without compromising overall system performance. For operations requiring higher computational power, an optional Intel Core Ultra 7 processor 265H is available.
For graphics-intensive tasks, the 40mk3 is compatible with an optional AMD Radeon W7500M 8GB graphics chip. This addition is particularly significant for defense operatives, providing faster and more accurate rendering of topography and mapping to improve situational awareness. In the utility sector, the enhanced graphics support the use of detailed 3D mapping, simulation, and CAD software used to maintain energy infrastructure.
Connectivity and endurance are central to the new model’s design. The laptop supports Wi-Fi 7 and offers optional integrated 4G and 5G public and private network support through eSIM connectivity. The 40mk3 provides up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge, which can be extended to 24 hours using two hot-swappable batteries, ensuring continuous operation during demanding shifts.
Maintaining a “modular-first” philosophy, the 40mk3 retains the same form factor as its predecessor, ensuring compatibility with existing peripherals and protecting previous investments. The system features four expansion areas for increased flexibility. It is built to withstand harsh environments, having undergone independent testing to MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G standards, and carries an IP66 rating for resistance to water and dust.
Dirk Weigelt, Senior Product and Solutions Manager at Panasonic TOUGHBOOK, stated: “The 40mk3 features the renowned levels of ruggedness, modularity, and dependability that users have come to expect from Panasonic. Featuring the same internal platform as the recently launched TOUGHBOOK 56, the 40mk3 gives organisations increased flexibility when configuring and deploying different devices in multiple environments.”
