Getac Technology Corporation has introduced CommandCore, a brand new rugged drone control solution designed to provide professionals with a customizable platform for operating unmanned systems in challenging environments. The solution supports Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) across land, sea, and air, catering specifically to the requirements of the defense, public safety, and utilities sectors.

CommandCore allows for the integration of rugged hardware with industry-specific accessories, payloads, and software. At the center of the architecture is Getac’s Ground Control Station (GCS), a mission-ready hub intended for real-time data processing and drone management under extreme conditions. Users can select from a variety of Getac devices to power the GCS, including the ZX80 fully rugged Android tablet, the UX10 fully rugged Windows tablet, and several Windows-based laptops and workstations such as the S510, B360, and the X600.

The GCS hardware is available in several form factors to meet diverse operational needs. These include a fully integrated design with built-in controls, an accessory-type configuration where the computing device can be separated from external controls, an office dock, and a dual-display suitcase design for mobile command and control (C2) activities.

In the defense sector, CommandCore is engineered to support intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) activity from both mobile and semi-fixed command posts. The system is designed to inform mission planning and execution strategies in real-time. The modular architecture is positioned to meet the complex requirements of Army aviation and integrated air defense systems, providing the reliable control and data visualization necessary for tactical operations.

The solution is built on an open ecosystem to support interoperability with third-party technologies and diverse drone environments. By utilizing in-house manufacturing and system-level design, Getac offers tailored configurations that can adapt to evolving operational requirements.

Beyond military applications, the system is designed for public safety and utility roles. In disaster response, it enables first responders to gather reconnaissance from fires or floods via handheld or vehicle-based stations. For utilities, it facilitates the remote inspection of large-scale infrastructure like powerlines and pipelines using waypoint guidance, reducing the need for personnel to enter dangerous terrain.

“As the use of drones becomes increasingly widespread throughout numerous industries around the world, demand for comprehensive remote control solutions is also growing significantly,” says Amanda Ward, EMEA Senior Director of Technology & Services, Getac Technology Corporation. “CommandCore answers this demand, providing professionals who work in challenging environments every day with a highly customisable rugged control solution they can rely on to get the job done when it matters most.”
