EIZO has introduced the Talon RGD2403W, a 24.1-inch WUXGA resolution rugged LCD monitor engineered for mission-critical maritime operations and Integrated Bridge Navigation Systems (IBNS).
The new monitor joins the existing RGD2401W to provide system integrators and end users with greater flexibility for specialized requirements and hardware refreshes. Designed specifically for electronic chart display, radar, and tactical situational awareness, the RGD2403W features factory calibration for backlight brightness, gamma, and RGB color balance to ensure the precise color reproduction essential for navigation.
The hardware is built in accordance with IEC 62288, IEC 62388, and IEC 61174 international standards, aligning its performance with global maritime regulations. It further meets the requirements of major maritime classification societies to comply with IMO regulations and conforms to IEC 60945 for durability in demanding marine environments.
To support deployment on surface ships and other mission-critical platforms, the monitor is qualified to MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-DTL-901E standards. These qualifications cover vibration, altitude, shock, EMI/EMC, and temperature extremes. The unit features an IP65-rated front to protect against dust and pressurized water jets, while the rear is rated IP54 to ensure reliability in exposed bridge and console environments.
Visibility and sunlight readability are enhanced through EIZO’s in-house optical bonding process, which fills the gap between the LCD module and cover glass with resin. This technique reduces reflections and prevents condensation or fogging during rapid temperature fluctuations. To address operator eye fatigue, the monitor can be equipped with EIZO’s LCD Flicker Compensation (E-LFC) algorithm to improve image quality.
For integration flexibility, the RGD2403W maintains the same dimensions and mounting points as the RGD2401W, supporting both front-side installation and VESA 400 x 200 rear mounting. The unit includes DisplayPort, D-Sub, and DVI-D inputs, with options for 3G-SDI BNC connections, a 10-point multitouch capacitive touchscreen, and an integrated heater for low-temperature operation.
Every Talon monitor is designed, manufactured, and tested in-house by EIZO. By controlling the entire production process from the controller boards and circuitry to the optical bonding and housing, the company ensures quality, minimizes lead times, and provides extended lifecycle support for maritime programs.
