Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) has released two new advanced 40 Gigabit 3U VPX Ethernet switches – the XChange3030 and XChange3031. The switches provide unparalleled data transmission speeds while maintaining a power-balanced design, ensuring efficient cooling and versatility to meet the demands of rugged networking solutions.
With a prime focus on maximizing data throughput, the XChange3030 and XChange3031 provide configurable 40 Gigabit Ethernet processing options, significantly enhancing the capabilities of any system they are integrated into. Additionally, a range of configurable 10 Gigabit and Gigabit Ethernet options, along with a front panel optical Ethernet port, facilitate robust communication. For select designs, an optional XMC site is also available to accommodate diverse requirements, including hosting an XChange6300 Embedded Services Router to support Layer 3 routing.
The fully ruggedized and configurable switch solutions guarantee reliable performance even under the harshest environmental conditions. Built to withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C, as well as enhanced vibration, shock, and humidity tolerances, X-ES embedded switches have undergone rigorous testing and proven themselves as a robust solution for mission-critical applications. Moreover, these switches offer Layer 2 switching and optional Layer 3 routing, enabling seamless networking within a single system.
As fully managed Layer 2 switches, the XChange3030 and XChange3031 support a comprehensive set of IETF RFCs and IEEE protocols such as:
VLANs (IEEE 802.1Q)
LACP
STP
RSTP
PVRST
MSTP
SNMP
Flow control
Port mirroring
Port authentication (IEEE 802.1x)
Quality of Service (QoS)
ACL
IGMP
LLDP
They can also optionally host an XChange6300 Embedded Services Router (ESR) for Layer 3 routing. The XChange6300 is X-ES’ fully rugged solution for Cisco IOS-XE networking and communications with Mobile Ready Net capabilities.
The XChange3030 and XChange3031 both deliver full wire-speed switching and support jumbo frames up to 10 kB, but offer varying Ethernet port capabilities for different project needs. The XChange3030 also features a front-panel optical Ethernet port.
X-ES offers two development platform options to support the XChange3030 and XChange3031. The XPand1007 is a low-cost system supporting up to two conduction-cooled 3U VPX cards and utilizes RTMs to simplify I/O access and support rapid system prototyping. The XPand1205 is a 3U VPX development platform for up to eight conduction-cooled modules, providing a feature-rich solution for comprehensive system development.
The XChange3031 can be installed in the second slot of the XPand6240 rugged system, where it can optionally host the XChange6300 Embedded Services Router in order to provide secure communications to deployable networking applications.
Both the XChange3030 and XChange3031 can support an optional XMC site on configurations utilizing an integrated mezzanine card, offering a J16 RS-232 serial port routed to P1, one 2500BASE-X Ethernet port, and two 1000BASE-X Ethernet ports from J16 when paired with the XChange6300 ESR. The XChange3031’s XMC site also supports up to two 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet ports from J14 to P2 or the switch.
