ICEYE, a leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite operations, has unveiled the ISR Cell, an end-to-end, containerized solution that provides defense forces with direct access to space-based tactical Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) in near-real time.

Designed to integrate seamlessly with any ICEYE mission, whether sovereign-owned or ICEYE-operated, the ISR Cell moves space-based intelligence from centralized nodes to the tactical edge. Already proven in military exercises, the ISR Cell strengthens ICEYE’s defense offering and advances the company’s goal of becoming a primary provider of critical ISR infrastructure to allied nations.

The ISR Cell tackles a key bottleneck in the ISR cycle: the rapid and reliable exploitation of increasingly complex data. It gives all levels of command direct access to satellite tasking, downlink, AI-assisted analysis, and secure intelligence dissemination, all on-site and aligned with tactical timelines. A capability once restricted to strategic command can now be deployed rapidly to high-risk environments and serve as a critical backup should fixed, centralized ground segments go offline.

Pekka Laurila, CSO and Co-founder of ICEYE, said, “The ISR Cell is a massive leap forward in transforming how military organizations gain access to critical intelligence. It puts strategic-grade space intelligence tools in the hands of the commander in minutes, not hours or days, fundamentally changing how modern operations are planned and executed.”

Laurila continued, “The ICEYE ISR Cells are already in production, with first customer deliveries scheduled for early 2026. This foundational capability, combined with our latest Gen4 satellites, makes satellite intelligence more efficient and directly accessible to every decision node, enabling faster and more reliable ISR loops across the force at scale.”

Unlike traditional satellite intelligence, typically optimized for strategic or operational decisions over hours or days, the ISR Cell is engineered for tactical timescales, delivering actionable intelligence in minutes. While aerial systems can provide real-time intelligence, they are limited by range, line-of-sight, and susceptibility to electronic warfare. The ISR Cell overcomes these limitations by bringing space-based intelligence directly to the point of need.

Beyond conflict zones, the ISR Cell offers critical resilience and operational flexibility for a variety of tactical applications, enabling on-site tasking and independent downlinking. This capability creates an essential layer of ground-based resilience for protecting and supporting increasingly vital space infrastructure.
