The Tactical Lasers portfolio by Thermal Beacon includes handheld Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) illumination and weapon-mounted infrared laser pointing and illumination systems.
Across the range, products operate at wavelengths including 810 nm, 852 nm, 1470 nm and 1550 nm, with different output powers, beam characteristics and mounting arrangements to support close-combat illumination through to very long-range pointing and illumination.
SWIR Handheld Tactical Flashlight
The SWIR Handheld Tactical Flashlight is a 1550 nm illuminator designed for close-combat environments. Its optical system produces a uniform, wide beam, providing illumination at ranges of up to 50 meters.
Operators can switch between low, medium, high and strobe modes using a two-button control system. The flashlight also runs on a rechargeable 18650 Li-ion battery and incorporates a built-in USB-C charging port.
Measuring 34 × 50.9 × 129.9 mm and weighing 150 g without the battery, the system features aircraft-aluminum construction, a black-anodized finish and stainless-steel hardware. It is also supplied with a Picatinny mount adapter for weapon integration.
Night Owl SWIR Laser Pointer
Night Owl is a weapon-mounted SWIR laser pointer operating at 1550 nm, with additional wavelengths available, and designed to operate across temperatures from -20°C to +55°C.
The system provides two Continuous-Wave (CW) output modes for eye safety operation. High mode delivers 25 mW ±10% and is classified as Class IIIR, while low mode delivers 9 mW ±10% and is Class I.
Night Owl has a beam divergence of less than 0.5 mRad and can be operated remotely using a pressure switch. Powered by a single CR123 battery, it provides more than two hours of operation and weighs less than 150 g, with a Picatinny adapter also supplied.
N-Venom Long-Range IR Pointer & Illuminator
N-Venom is a weapon-mounted infrared laser illuminator and pointer designed for very long ranges, incorporating variable optics for different combat conditions.
Available at 852 nm and 1470 nm, with other wavelengths also available, the system provides output power of up to 190 mW depending on wavelength. Its beam divergence ranges from less than 0.5 mRad up to 10 degrees, while operation includes both CW and 1.5 Hz flash modes.
Power can be adjusted between high and low settings. High power is specified at 190 mW, while low power is below 2 mW and can be customized. An optional filter attachment provides an eye-safe configuration.
For longer-range visibility, Thermal Beacon specifies up to 9 km in high mode and 1.7 km in low mode, noting that range may vary depending on light conditions. The system provides ±2 degrees of pan and ±2 degrees of tilt boresight adjustment. Weighing 185 g, N-Venom can be operated through an integrated push button or remotely using a pressure switch with a 0.4 m cable. Variable mounting options are available for different weapon types.
Venom IR Pointer & Illuminator
Venom is another weapon-mounted infrared laser illuminator and pointer for very long-range use, with stated applications including machine guns, weapon stations and observation systems.
Operating at 810 nm, with other wavelengths available, the system provides 200 mW optical output in high mode and 2.2 mW in low mode. An eye-safe mode is available when the filter is used with the low setting.
Available in remote-control or handheld configurations, Venom supports CW, flash and Class 1 eye-safe operating modes, with a 1.5 Hz pulse rate. Its beam divergence ranges from 0.5 mRad up to 10 degrees, while the boresight range is ±2 degrees.
The system weighs 200 g and measures 45 × 115 × 50 mm, with a built-in holder for Picatinny rail mounting and power supplied by two AA batteries.
