Apella Solutions’ Argus transcoder line provides H264/H265 high-quality video and still imagery over constrained and satellite links, supporting real-time awareness for manned and unmanned platforms in low-bandwidth environments.
The systems are intended for military, defense, and law enforcement use where reliable visual intelligence and consistent transcoding performance are required.
Argus Product Range
Argus Professional supplies high-quality video and imagery optimized for restricted and satellite channels. It supports two HD camera inputs and can reduce a combined intake of roughly 30 Mbps to an output under 100 kbps. Compression parameters can be adjusted to tailor stream characteristics for specific information requirements, enabling dependable video and imagery for bandwidth-limited platforms.
Argus Light delivers efficient video and imagery for low-bandwidth and satellite pathways and is intended for platforms with strict size, weight, and power restrictions. It maintains steady transcoding behavior when connectivity is unstable or when power budgets are low.
Argus OEM provides high-quality, low-bandwidth video and imagery in a board-level format suited for embedded system integration on manned and unmanned platforms.
The Argus Software-only variant provides high-quality, low-bandwidth streaming without dedicated electronics. It installs directly on suitable Linux hardware and supports flexible deployment for programs that require software integration rather than dedicated modules.
Capabilities

Argus Pro can transcode high-definition feeds from two connected cameras and stream them concurrently while operating at extremely low data rates. Output streams and still imagery use standard IP video formats and standard digital image formats.
The software is optimized for low power consumption, enabling miniature hardware to handle dual-stream transcoding, and it can also be used on COTS Linux systems when additional computing resources are required.
Functional Features
Argus includes motion-based triggers for capturing high-quality still images within user-defined areas of interest. The system can compress output from IP or USB cameras to below 100 kbps and supports H.264 IP cameras and UVC 1.5 USB devices. It reduces transmission and storage demands and provides a web interface with live video for configuration and monitoring.
