Kollmorgen DC Torque Motors are low-voltage direct-drive motors engineered for high torque at very low speeds. A permanent-magnet field and wound armature generate torque without a gearbox, helping reduce backlash while supporting smooth motion, precise positioning and fast response. Frameless models range from 28.7 mm (1.13 in) outside diameter and 1.4 oz (0.0875 lb) in weight up to units with a 1067 mm (42 in) OD, 660.4 mm (26 in) open bore and 4067 N·m (3000 lb-ft) torque. Housed versions include a one-inch-cube model producing 0.049 N·m (7 oz-in) peak torque.
The motors are used in defense systems including weapon stations, gun turrets, missile guidance, precision-guided munitions, radar and tracking equipment, uncrewed vehicles, camera gimbals, infrared countermeasure platforms and laser weapon systems. Their high torque-to-power ratio supports low input-power requirements, while a low electrical time constant enables rapid command response. Frameless and housed configurations are available, with engineered options covering magnet materials, laminations, pole counts, stack lengths, windings and installation geometry.
