The Model 789 OEM CW and Pulsed Laser Diode Driver provides precise current regulation for continuous wave and pulsed laser diodes used in defense photonics and directed energy systems. It is a current regulated buck converter that delivers a programmable output current up to 50 A and drives laser compliance voltages up to 45 V. Built-in protection features include open circuit, short circuit, adjustable current limit, and temperature monitoring for reliable operation in military environments.
The driver achieves up to 97% efficiency, minimizing heat generation while maintaining compact dimensions. The PCB is mounted on an aluminum baseplate that spreads and dissipates heat effectively, reducing the need for extensive cooling. Its high power density supports up to 1.5 kW average output power and 2.25 kW peak power during pulsed operation with adequate cooling. Multiple units can be connected in parallel for higher current applications, providing a flexible and efficient solution for OEM integration in advanced defense laser systems.
