Rotron Aerospace introduced the Defendor at DSEI, presenting the system as a next-generation Uncrewed Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) and One Way Effect (OWE) platform designed to provide scalable sovereign capability.
At full scale, the Defendor is powered by the R250-FDS Fan Drive System and is stated to offer speeds of up to 650 km/h and a range exceeding 1,000 km.
The Defendor was showcased as a vertical take-off, tail-sitter design that does not require rail or rated launch systems. The aircraft takes off vertically before transitioning to forward flight, with the Fan Drive System integrated at the rear of the airframe. The model displayed at DSEI was a 50 percent scale configuration, featuring elevator and rudder control surfaces and a swing-wing system that allows the wings to rotate through 90 degrees during launch.
