Matt D’Onofrio, Head of Flight Operations at Robinson Unmanned, introduces the Helios Sub‑250‑gram drone, the newest addition to the company’s coaxial aircraft family. Designed for hand launch and hand retrieval, the platform supports applications such as public safety and defense operations while maintaining a compact, lightweight form factor.
The Helios platform features forward‑facing voxel obstacle avoidance and an integrated electro‑optical low‑light camera with a digital gimbal for zoom and pin capabilities. The aircraft supports two battery configurations, offering approximately 22 minutes of flight time with a standard battery and up to 35 minutes of endurance with a larger battery option.
Streamline 3D supports the Helios platform through HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing, producing the top and bottom housing covers using PA 12 material. The housings are finished with a satin Pantone 4C powder coat developed specifically for thermoplastics. This finishing process helps protect against UV exposure, improves impact resistance, and prevents water ingress that could lead to weight variation over time.
