Plasan and ASFIR 4X4 have unveiled the STORMER, a highly modular light tactical vehicle engineered to meet modern operational demands for rapid deployment, high payload capacity, and off-road mobility.

Modern military and special operations forces increasingly require platforms capable of transporting larger teams, mission gear, and casualties across severe terrain while preserving ease of maintenance and deployment. To address these operational constraints, the STORMER merges a commercial off-the-shelf foundation with military-grade chassis and driveline reinforcements.
At the core of the vehicle is a Jeep Gladiator-based platform modified through Plasan automotive engineering. Propulsion is delivered by a 280-horsepower, 3.6-liter gasoline engine coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The reinforced chassis and upgraded Dana axles are configured to carry up to 12 personnel and support a payload exceeding 1,000 kg (2,200 lb.). For crew safety and situational awareness, the vehicle incorporates a modular roll-over protection system (ROPS) designed to maintain 360-degree visibility.
“STORMER was developed to address a growing operational requirement for a rapidly deployable platform capable of carrying larger teams and mission equipment without compromising mobility. By combining a proven commercial platform with Plasan’s engineering expertise, we created a highly adaptable vehicle that can be configured for multiple missions while remaining simple to operate, maintain, and sustain,” commented Moshe Elazar, CEO of Plasan.
Engineered for airborne transport and rapid deployment, the vehicle features a configurable rear platform capable of accommodating specialized mission payloads. These include logistics gear, weapons, radar, counter-UAS installations, communications equipment, an electric winch, and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) systems. Troop access and casualty transport are facilitated by a three-position folding rear door that supports rapid ingress and egress, cargo security, and stretcher configurations.
Mission systems integration is further supported by a 24-volt electrical architecture, blackout driving systems, a communications console, and dedicated antenna mounting locations. Utilizing commercially available components throughout the driveline and chassis is intended to reduce long-term logistics complexity and simplify maintenance in the field.
The project combines Plasan’s four decades of vehicle protection and engineering experience—proven globally through its SandCat vehicle family—with ASFIR 4X4’s specialized work in off-road systems.
“Our collaboration with Plasan enabled us to transform a proven commercial 4×4 platform into a practical and highly capable tactical solution. STORMER delivers the mobility, flexibility, and robustness required by demanding users while maintaining the reliability and supportability of a commercial vehicle platform,” said Tzachi Oz, CEO of ASFIR 4X4.
