OpenWorks Engineering has been awarded a purchase order to provide the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with counter-uncrewed aerial systems capability under an existing Department of Defense contract vehicle.

The procurement is being executed under the DOD IAC MAC contract, an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity vehicle awarded by the U.S. Air Force’s 774th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron. Under this framework, global engineering firm Amentum provides research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) expertise to support evolving technical requirements from the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (S&T). The broader IAC MAC vehicle delivers mission-critical research and development support across hundreds of defense activities.

Under the order, OpenWorks will deliver Vision Pace, an optical counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) engineered to detect, track, identify, and target dynamic airborne threats from both stationary and mobile platforms. The hardware combines advanced imaging technology with a direct-drive, low-friction positioner to maintain stabilized tracking against high-speed targets. To facilitate rapid geospatial target reporting and threat assessment, the platform integrates a Laser Range Finder alongside radar and sensor-fusion capabilities, operating either with internal twin-AI modules or integrated third-party classifiers and trackers.

Tactical deployment is supported by the Vision Pace Rapid Deployment Kit, which incorporates an integrated battery pack, internal storage, and dedicated lifting points to allow rapid positioning in the field. The acquisition bolsters U.S. government air defenses against unauthorized surveillance, nuisance incursions, and payload-delivery risks, marking the deployment of Vision Pace across three continents since the system was introduced in 2025.

James Cross, Chief Commercial Officer at OpenWorks, stated, “We’re incredibly proud to support the U.S. Department for Homeland Security with performance C-UAS capability. The U.S. is host to a number of high-profile sporting and cultural events, where the world’s eyes will be watching. The threat posed by nuisance and malicious drones is well-documented with sightings at airports, major events and military locations. The precision and accuracy afforded by Vision Pace will contribute significantly to ensuring security for U.S. citizens and international visitors.”
