Imenco has introduced a new low-cost Naval Pan, Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) camera system qualified to meet stringent military requirements.

The ODIN system offers an ultra-rugged, naval 3MP IP colour Pan, Tilt & Zoom CCTV camera with integrated pedestal assembly, local junction box and interface cable assembly.

ODIN is ideally suited to both external monitoring and situational awareness above decks on naval ships, as well as the limited lighting conditions found in the ship engineering spaces below decks.

The camera has been qualified to meet the stringent US Navy requirements of MIL-S-901E ‘Hammer’ shock test, MIL-S-167-1A ship vibration, MIL-S-810G environmental & MIL-S-461G EMI for surface ships.

ODIN is designed using the latest technology in intelligent imaging and video streaming and uses an advanced 1/2.8” STARVIS CMOS sensor with Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) and exceptional low light performance. It produces three video streams up to 3MP (2048 x 1536 pixels) resolution at 30fps, in a choice of H.265, H.264 and MJPEG compression formats. ONVIF compliance ensures seamless integration with other compliant networks and Video Management Software (VMS).

The camera offers 30x optical zoom, with 16x digital zoom and ultra-low light sensitivity of 0.01 Lux in colour day mode, as well as auto ICR switching to night mode for extended ultra low light (0.0001 Lux) sensitivity with monochrome imaging. Smart, auto adapting, white light and near IR illuminator options are also available. The system features a flat, optically-correct, toughened polycarbonate window for image clarity and includes an integrated wiper with long-life silicone blade.

David Fleming, Marine & Naval Projects Group Manager for Imenco UK Ltd commented: “ODIN has been in the making for two years, so we are extremely happy to bring it to the market. This rugged PTZ is the perfect camera for both external monitoring and situational awareness above decks on naval ships, and is particularly well suited for flight deck surveillance”.

Paul Scott, working with Marine and Naval Projects at Imenco added “We are pleased to see that ODIN has successfully been qualified to meet the strict US Navy requirements of MIL-S-901E ‘Hammer’ shock test, MIL-S-167-1A ship vibration, MIL-S-810G environmental & MIL-S-461G EMI for surface ships”
