Saab has signed a SEK 152 million contract with the Finnish Defense Forces for the delivery of combat training simulators to supplement the live training solutions already installed with the customer.

The contract includes an upgrade of the Finnish military training facility in Pori brigade and its equipment, as well as other individual types of simulators within eight separate troop units.

Saab booked the order in Q1 2022. The upgrade will enable the Finnish Defence Forces to use the simulators for training until the end of 2032.

“This contract provides the Finnish Defense Forces with a further enhanced live training capability, which will enable us to improve the capabilities of the Defense Forces, both within the national border as well as in multinational collaborations with partners,” said Colonel Kari Pietiläinen, Assistant Chief of Staff, Training Division (J7), Defense Command of Finnish Defense Forces.

“Our innovative and flexible training solutions will secure Finland’s training capability for the next decade, allowing them to train with the highest degree of realism,” says Åsa Thegström, head of Saab’s business unit Training & Simulation.

Through innovative use of technology and a proven training philosophy, Saab offers training solutions and capabilities enabling interoperability and realism for land forces. Saab’s offer includes solutions for live training, live fire training, virtual training and training services.
