BAE Systems’ Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV), designed to operate in rugged and challenging terrains, has been unveiled in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025.
BAE Systems’ long-standing partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps and industry expertise were utilized to design and deliver an ACV that meets the unique requirements of modern expeditionary warfare. Building on the company’s amphibious expertise and Iveco Defence Vehicles’ history of producing multi-purpose armored vehicles, the ACV offers advanced flexibility and capability.
The ACV also enhances Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief preparedness by providing deployable assets capable of navigating flood zones and other challenging environmental conditions to deliver supplies and personnel to affected areas.
Designed to integrate future technologies and support various weapon systems, the ACV family of vehicles has four variants:
- The ACV-P (Personnel) is mobile and can transport 13 combat-loaded Marines, plus three crew.
- The ACV-C (Command) provides multiple workstations to maintain and manage situational awareness in the battle space.
- The ACV-30mm mounts a stabilized, medium caliber weapon system to provide the lethality and protection needed while leaving ample room for troop capacity and payload.
- The ACV-R (Recovery) provides field maintenance, recovery, and repair capabilities to vehicles operating throughout the battle space.
Rebecca McGrane, vice president of Amphibious Programs at BAE Systems, stated, “The ACV is a trailblazer for amphibious warfare, designed to have significant growth potential and the flexibility to meet mission roles of military forces across the globe. The 8×8 platform is a unique mix of true open-ocean amphibious capability and land mobility in the most challenging terrain, and we are confident we can enhance operational effectiveness for our allies.”
