Microcon Vision is set to unveil MICRO-D, a lightweight multi-sensor electro-optical/infrared payload that equips small tactical airborne platforms with laser target designation capabilities.
Being introduced at AUSA 2026, Washington DC, October 12-14, the 1.9 kg system integrates seven sensors and functional channels to support the complete operational workflow from target detection and tracking to laser designation. Incorporating a 30mJ STANAG 3733-compliant laser designator, the payload enables compact unmanned aerial systems operating below cloud cover and at lower altitudes to mark targets for compatible precision-guided munitions.
The non-ITAR, germanium-free, and NDAA-compliant system uses a two-axis gyro-stabilized gimbal to deliver simultaneous video outputs, line-of-sight stabilization, airborne ISR tracking, and inertial navigation capabilities. Optional artificial intelligence features include automatic target recognition and video motion detection. System integration is supported via Ethernet, featuring a dedicated SDK and optional MAVLink connectivity.
Chen Almog, CEO & Co-Founder of Microcon Vision, said, “The growing use of smaller tactical platforms is creating a need for capabilities that until now have largely been available on larger systems. MICRO-D was developed to address this gap, allowing smaller platforms to take a more active role in the sensor-to-shooter chain. The initial orders we have received reflect the operational demand we are seeing for this type of capability, particularly in the U.S., where our cooperation with our affiliate CONTROP USA provides U.S. customers with local business presence, effective program execution, local technical and field support, significantly enhancing our ability to serve our customers and partners.”
Initial orders for the MICRO-D system have already been secured, with initial deliveries expected by the end of 2026.
