L3Harris Technologies has secured a $55 million award from the U.S. Army to supply its advanced NOVA night-vision goggle system under the Binocular Night Observation Device (BiNOD) program.
Designed to meet the U.S. military’s operational requirements for the next two decades and beyond, the NOVA system utilizes image intensifier technology to deliver day-and-night, all-weather situational awareness for soldiers on the ground. Following the contract award, L3Harris will move directly into full-rate production to meet force demand.
Brenna Baker, President, Integrated Vision Solutions, Communications & Spectrum Dominance, L3Harris, said, “From day one, we partnered closely with the Army to design a binocular system tailored to the evolving demands of the modern battlefield. Our BiNOD solution reflects that collaboration, and we’re prepared to deliver this capability at speed and scale for soldiers.”
The BiNOD program builds on L3Harris’ ongoing support of existing U.S. Department of War night-vision solutions. These include the Fused Panoramic Night Vision Goggle, currently deployed by the U.S. Special Operations Command to enhance mobility, targeting, and lethality across complex operational environments.
In addition to supporting U.S. forces, L3Harris is making the NOVA system available to allied nations pursuing land force modernization initiatives aimed at improving night-vision capabilities.
