Military Command and Control C2
Discover cutting-edge solutions from 5 leading global suppliers
The German Armed Forces, known as the Bundeswehr, have signed an agreement with the Danish software company Systematic to deploy a new digital Command-and-Control (C2) solution to frontline units.
The Danish technology, SitaWare Edge, is the mobile version of the SitaWare command-and-control solution used by NATO’s land forces and more than 50 countries worldwide.
The German Army’s digitalisation efforts will see troops equipped with this system, which features a small chest-mounted display to provide a digital situational overview directly in the field. This capability allows troops to report hostile activity and view the exact, near-real-time location of allied forces.
SitaWare Edge becomes the third component in a fully integrated digital command-and-control system already utilized by the German Army, extending its reach from headquarters and vehicles down to dismounted soldiers. This expansion ensures the individual soldier is connected, giving the entire force access to a shared, real-time operational picture and enabling more effective operations, even in areas with limited connectivity.
Sven Trusch, Managing Director of Systematic’s German subsidiary, stated, “The Bundeswehr already has experience with SitaWare, and their decision to expand its use even further reflects the trust we have built through our cooperation.”
The agreement also incorporates a development package that will permit the Bundeswehr to customize and extend the solution with proprietary features and integrations.
