Denchi Group is collaborating with Integrals Power and the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) on a £2 million UK government-funded project focused on the development of Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate (LMFP) battery technology.
The project is being delivered through Innovate UK’s Battery Innovation Programme and supported by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology as part of the UK’s Industrial Strategy.
Integrals Power will supply its LMFP cathode active material for pouch and cylindrical battery cells manufactured at UKBIC. Denchi will then validate cell performance within battery packs it already produces for high-reliability applications.
The resulting battery packs are intended for defence validation and future automotive applications. The project will also demonstrate an end-to-end battery supply chain based in the UK and Europe, spanning cathode materials, battery cells and finished battery packs.
According to Integrals Power, its LMFP technology can offer up to 20% higher energy density than conventional Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), while eliminating cobalt and nickel and reducing reliance on critical minerals.
