The symposium will cover research, engineering and operational developments alongside the regulatory challenges affecting autonomous systems. For the defense and aerospace sector, topics include unmanned aviation, autonomous systems, satellite technologies, space robotics, artificial intelligence, traffic management, safety and regulation.
UTES 2026 will take place on October 26–27, 2026 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The two-day program will divide its focus between Earth-based and space technologies, with an exhibition running throughout both days.
The program will examine technologies, applications and policies connecting unmanned aviation, autonomous mobility, Earth observation, space operations and intelligent infrastructure.
Sessions will address aircraft development, flight testing, certification and autonomous operations.
Topics will include satellites, mission operations, orbital systems, autonomous spacecraft and space robotics.
The symposium will explore AI applications including perception, decision-making, mission planning and human-machine collaboration.
Coverage will include unmanned traffic management (UTM), air traffic management integration, digital airspace and intelligent mobility infrastructure.
Discussions will examine certification, operational safety, standards, security and public policy.
The program will also cover sensors, communications, propulsion, robotics and other emerging engineering technologies.
UTES 2026 will feature keynote presentations, technical sessions, panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities at Chalmers University of Technology.
Day 1 – October 26 will focus on Earth technologies, including UAVs, urban air mobility, U-space, autonomous systems and airspace integration.
Day 2 – October 27 will concentrate on space technologies, including satellite systems, planetary exploration, analogue missions and space robotics.
An industrial exhibition will run across both days, featuring technology showcases, demonstrations, research groups, companies, public organizations and student teams.
The event will take place at Chalmers Conference Centre on the Johanneberg campus of Chalmers University of Technology.
The main auditorium, RunAn, will host keynote presentations, technical sessions and panel discussions. The adjacent Volvo Foyer will accommodate the exhibition, poster presentations, demonstrations and networking activities.
