The Petrel X7 is a next-generation submersible beacon engineered for efficient recovery of oceanographic assets. Designed to function analogous to an AIS Aid to Navigation (AtoN), it transmits its location directly to nearby vessel chartplotters without the need for auxiliary equipment, software, or data subscriptions.
Its capability to seamlessly appear on a vessel’s AIS display enables ship crews to conduct swift, accurate retrieval operations even in adverse maritime environments.
Constructed from pressure-resistant titanium and glass, the beacon endures depths up to 6000 meters while maintaining optimal signal integrity upon surfacing. The system’s low-power mode conserves energy during submersion, supporting extended deployments up to one year underwater with five days active transmission at the surface.
Integrated Bluetooth connectivity streamlines setup via a mobile app, and a remote head configuration is available for challenging installations.
