The DA 30-D-MCCS actuator from Volz Servos is a fully redundant actuator developed for defense and aerospace systems that demand continuous functionality under fault conditions. Its dual-channel control architecture ensures operational continuity even in the event of a single-channel failure, maintaining precise actuation in mission-critical environments. Each subsystem including electric motors, control and communication electronics, and power supply is fully duplicated to achieve a high level of reliability and fault isolation.
The actuator’s position sensing system employs a three-channel configuration using a two-out-of-three voting process to ensure accurate feedback and fault-tolerant signal validation. Integrated sensors monitor voltage, current, and internal temperature, while dual microcontrollers continuously perform self-diagnostics across all key components. Diagnostic and status data are transmitted through the redundant RS-485 interface, supporting real-time system health assessment. The DA 30-D-MCCS can operate in both standard and degraded modes, allowing continued function even under partial system failure, an essential feature for long-duration UAV and defense missions requiring redundancy and control assurance.
